Dr. Schiffenhaus is married to Sara Schiffenhaus whom he met as an undergraduate at Arizona State University. They have two children – James and Margot. Dr. Schiffenhaus has a passion for teaching, which is why in addition to maintaining The BAARD Institute, you may find other students or doctors shadowing Dr. Schiffenhaus from time to time. In terms of hobbies, Dr. Schiffenhaus enjoys competitive shooting, brewing beer, but mostly these days his time is spent enjoying time with his children while they are young.
Dr. Schiffenhaus was born and grew up in New Jersey. After graduating Randolph High School, Dr. Schiffenhaus moved to Tempe, Arizona to attend Arizona State University. Originally a business major, Dr. Schiffenhaus switched and graduated with a BS in Molecular Bioscience & Biotechnology. While earning his Bachelor’s degree Dr. Schiffenhaus did undergraduate research for the chemistry department – synthesizing gold nanoparticles for a nuclear magnetic resonance imaging project. Later, Dr. Schiffenhaus did undergraduate research for The Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University. The overall goal of this project was to develop a cancer vaccine and/or identify protein bio-markers for cancer screening tests.
